Gertrud Welz

Oil paintings and drawings

The artist is native Austrian, father and grandfather came from Munich and were also busy with painting.

Already in early childhood music and drawing was  alongside their preferred occupation, and so it remained.  After watercolors and drawings mainly representating figures and landscapes in the beginning  followed the work with oil on canvas and other supports.  Currently created drawings are in black and white.

A major concern was to her,to develop a very personal style , to remain independent of what exactly is going on Permanent doubt accompany this project.

Gradually, the artist focuses on the essentials for her, theme are the interiors and exteriors, compositions with forms of flora and fauna, from the geometry (interior and exterior, including the human lives in these two dimensions.

Our world, quite overwhelmed by art and artists, what they still need the artist?  The rapid development of technology, the use of these techniques for representations of any kind, Why to use any brush and paint for working? Perhaps because the resulting product  isn't comparable with nothing else  his very special character really can't be replaced.

Welz desired aesthetics in their work and harmony.  She loves math, in the broadest sense, and sets this to happy.

I assume that the part of a whole manifests similar structure as the whole and often only use the parts.  In order to achieve a harmony I prefer balanced amounts of the various forms.  The spontaneity is not lost, since this selection is made emotionally. In my paintings, I put the Round besides, the Square.  the Dark and the Light, the warm and the cold, evil and the good, because the one without the other may not be well perceived.

An image acquired as a wall decoration or  understood,  should also be beautiful, in its broadest sense and invite  to look . The beholders   eye  should like to rest or wander throughout it and  love it.

Welz participated in various group exhibitions (such as L'uomo e la sua dimensione religiosa in Europe) in the Vatican,

and  had various personal  shows such as L'ambiente trasformato in La Paloma Gallery, Rome.
